Microgaming Paying It Forward

Microgaming is making a difference by paying it forward with their PlayItForward initiative. The gaming giant has donated £12,680 to YGAM in an endeavour to assist the charity with the expansion of its gambling-related harm prevention initiative program to the district of the Isle of Man.

YGAM (The Young Gambler’s Education Trust) is an independently registered charity that is based in the United Kingdom. The charity runs an education programme that seeks to inform young people about gambling-related harm as well as to raise awareness of gambling and the pitfalls of irresponsible gambling in general.

The charity has been prolific in its endeavours to inform and educate, and has hosted workshops in various countries over the last three years, including the Netherlands, Malta, and Gibraltar.

PlayItForward Initiative

Microgaming’s PlayItForward initiative and their donation will enable YGAM to extend its hand of help all the way to the Isle of Man, where partnerships will be forged with schools as well as local government in an endeavour to inform and educate by means of YGAM’s Train the Trainer workshops.

The workshops will focus on educating and equipping teachers, youth workers, and general community volunteers about the development of digital resilience in young people. Kimberly Broad, Head of Compliance at Microgaming, recently said that partnering with YGAM was a priority for Microgaming as the developer recognised and acknowledged the importance of what YGAM were trying to achieve by educating young people about the risks of gambling-related harm. She also said that to this end, Microgaming supported YGAM’s endeavours to further expand its reach, this time round to the Isle of Man.

Forging Partnerships

Lee Willows, Chief Executive at YGAM, has commended Microgaming on its PlayItForward initiative, saying that it was initiatives like these that enabled organisations like YGAM to further extend its reach in order to educate and inform. Willows also said that the collaboration between Microgaming and YGAM has been coming for quite some time and that the two parties had been keen to cooperate on a project of this nature, where the focus is on accredited training and the provision of educational content.

Without financial aid by big role players like Microgaming, education of this nature, and especially to this extent, would not be possible. Initiatives like Microgaming’s PlayItForward make a big difference to the overall healthy standing and the sustainable operational functionality of the casino industry as a whole.
